AFL-CIOThe American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) works tirelessly to improve the lives of working people.
We are the democratic, voluntary federation of 60 national and international labor unions that represent 12.5 million working people. We strive to ensure all working people are treated fairly, with decent paychecks and benefits, safe jobs, dignity, and equal opportunities. We help people acquire valuable skills and job-readiness for the 21st century economy. In fact, we operate the largest training network outside the U.S. military. Our work is anchored in making sure everyone who works for a living has family-supporting wages and benefits and the ability to retire with dignity. We advance legislation to create good jobs by investing tax dollars in schools, roads, bridges, ports and airports, and improving the lives of workers through education, job training and a livable minimum wage. We advocate for strengthening Social Security and private pensions, ensuring fair tax policies, and making high-quality, affordable health care available to all. We fight for keeping good jobs at home by reforming trade rules, reindustrializing the U.S. economy and providing worker protections in the global economy. We stand firm in holding corporations accountable for their actions. We help make safe, equitable workplaces and give working people a collective voice to address workplace injustices without the fear of retaliation. We fight for social and economic justice and strive to vanquish oppression in all its forms. |

The Ohio Federation of TeachersThe Ohio Federation of Teachers is a union of professionals representing 20,000 members in 55 locals across the state that include public school educators and support staff, higher education faculty and support staff, and public employees. OFT is the state affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers.
OFT focuses on issues at the statewide level that include legislation, public policy and education policy, communications and political advocacy. We advocate sound, commonsense public education policies, including high academic and conduct standards for students and greater professionalism for teachers and school staff; and excellence in public service through cooperative problem-solving and workplace innovations. |

The Ohio 8The Ohio 8 Coalition’s work focuses on key initiatives that further the member’s commitment to improving student achievement in Ohio’s urban districts. The work, undertaken with both labor-management and multi-city collaboration, focuses on four strategic priorities: teaching and learning, government relations/public policy, public awareness and collaboration & leadership.

AFT - Share My LessonThe American Federation of Teachers’ Share My Lesson is a free, award-winning community-based site that brings together educators, parents and caregivers, paraprofessionals and school-related personnel, specialized instructional support personnel, union and nonunion members, educational partners, and higher education professionals who have the common goal of finding and sharing the best educational resources available. Share My Lesson was created by the AFT and TES Global in 2012. From the beginning, we have been committed to providing our community of members high-quality and effective lesson plans and professional development resources—all for free.
Today, Share My Lesson remains a trusted resource for high-quality education materials, many of which are designed to support educators implementing standards. As of 2023, Share My Lesson has 2.1 million members and more than 420,000 resources (geared to toddlers through higher education), which have been downloaded more than 16 million times. |
